The Morrison Hotel Gallery

First off: a HUGE Thanks to Peter Blachley for letting us use his extraordinary images!

About The Gallery:

If you want to see the most impressive and thorough collection of music photography by the absolute best in the business, beeline straight to SoHo and check out The Morrison Hotel Gallery. Now, if the name of the gallery then you must be a Doors fan. The owner, Peter Blachley, started out in the mailing room at Capitol Records back in 1977, where he eventually met and went into business with acclaimed music photographer Henry Diltz who shot that legendary Doors cover for which the place is named.

The Morrison Hotel Gallery started in a temporary space in SoHo in 2001, and now they have two permanent spaces. We also checked out the Prince St. location where we met up with the owner And the archives are amazing, as they now rep just about every single notable music photographer in the world: You name the artist, they have the best shots. Sure, you can buy the prints, but you can look at them for free.

Their other Manhattan location is a massive loft space next to which legendary nightclub CBGB once stood and it showcases music icons and their other artistic endeavors from paintings to sculptures.
