Toni On New York!

My husband is the greatest guy on the planet. When I got pregnant back in 2006, I spent 5 days covering The Hamptons Film Festival, and upon my return, a brand new Toyota FJ was parked in the driveway. He bought it for me because it had a roll bar! How cute is that? Had to keep the little bun safe! Well, jump cut 3 years later, and because it has suicide doors, and a tiny back seat (with windows that don’t open), it is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to put my very tall 3 year old son (he just turned 3 this may and had a “choo choo cake”). I have to move the drivers seat all the way up, which means that when Grandpa is in town he can’t travel with us in the car because at 6′3″ he is too tall to fit in the back, and requires the seat to be all the way back when he is in front. So, while I thanked my husband profusely, but it just may be time to move on. Besides, the front doors are so wide, I have to shimmy in and out when I’m parked at the super market or anywhere else, for that matter.

SO! that brings me to my new best friend, Leo Karl @ Karl Chevrolet in New Canaan, CT! This weekend we are hitting the road with 3 reporters and our “Tween Trio” (my friend’s daughter and her 2 BFFs) to shoot a show @ 6 Flags in Jackson, NJ. And there is no way we could fit everyone in the Fj, so Leo loaned me a Traverse. Converts to a 7 seater! But still has room for our gear….from my boy’s supplies (we are in the midst of potty training…NOW THAT IS FUN!) to our cameras, mics, lights, etc. Now, 6 Flags is over 2 hours from my house, so the dvd player will come in handy….as will onstar, navigation, xm radio (I can listen to my old pal Martha Quinn on 80’s on 8 – there are headphones for dvd watchers)….and not one but 2 sunroofs! FJ doesn’t have a sun roof .

I’m looking forward to the road trip. The boy is looking forward to the Wild Safari (and i am too)!!
