So what do you do the weekend after your son’s 4th birthday and you have a house full of grandparents?  You take ‘em to Montauk and give your husband a much needed a break!

I packed my folks, my  mom in law, my boy and my crew in the Traverse and off we went. 1st stop: check in at The Montauk Yacht Club where the nice folks there put us up for a few nights. A little pricey but amazing history and awesome for kids because they have their own little beach outside the rooms and a playground on the premises.

We dropped off our bags and immediately headed to The Hideaway for much needed sopas, burritos and margaritas (well, they had margaritas. i had club soda…boo!). The awesome proprietor Frieda hooked us up with grilled corn with cheese (omg sooo good) and some crazy hot chorizo soup that was divine!

In the morning, we had to get fueled up for serious adventure so we headed to Mr. John’s Pancake House – been there for almost 50 years – and devoured coconut pancakes, my son opted for the chocolate chip variety and my cameraman had the most oversized insane omelet i have ever seen with every meat known to mankind.

lunch

Next we were off to LUNCH, which is actually called The Lobster Roll, but you may know it because of its famed sign. We had to try what many say is the best lobster roll in New York. Being that I’m way preggo and not eating lots of shellfish, that’s where my pops came into play. When we were growing up, my grandfather had a summer house in Maine and, back in the day, we had our own lobster traps. So, he is a certified expert. Besides, the apple doesn’t fall far and I definately got my passion for food from my father. When my mom went to law school when i was in 5th grade, the house celebrated because that meant Daddy would be doing all the cooking. Mom, in the kitchen? Notsomuch.

Then we hit our history hard with my boy Seth, the crew enjoyed copious amounts of BBC’s at Cyril’s, we checked out the surfers and almost got a 12,500 ticket at Ditch Plains Beach! Lucky for us, the cop loves the show! PHEW!!!!
