Miss Mamie’s Spoonbread
Best Soul Food

l

Fried chicken, collard greens, mac n cheese, ribs that fall of the bone, if you are looking for down home soul food, you have found the place. Miss Mamie’s was started by Norma Jean an elite model back in the day, who, when encouraged by a Vogue editor, compiled all of the great recipes of her mom’s and published a book. Norma Jean’s grand father was a slave down south, so it was a particularly proud moment when she got to cater a fundraising gala for the then Presidential hopeful, Barack Obama. (Harlem neighbor Bill Clinton eats there, too).

If you really want good soul food in Harlem then try Charles Soul Food located @ W. 151St and 8th Avenue (Frederick Douglass Blvd.) to you downtowners. Charlie’s is the best kept secret in harlem… Spoonbread is garbage….
