Gibson Guitar

Real life guitar hero, Earl Slick met up with us at Gibson to talk about Music Legend Les Paul, who developed the Electric Guitar. And he should about the iconic figure influence in the industry being that he has toured and recorded with the best from David Bowie to John Lennon. But years before, when he saw Eric Clapton playing the Les Paul electric guitar, he ran out to buy one.

Les was so instrumental in the advancement of the recording industry and of the electric guitar he is one of a handful of artists with a permanent, stand-alone exhibit in The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. He became a household name in the 50’s due to his radio show and Les continued to play until his final days at the Iridium Jazz club in Times Square.

Now, Gibson Guitar’s location is also worth noting when we talk music history because it now occupies the space that used to be The Hit Factory back in the 80s, where anyone who was anyone cranked out the hits right here: The Rolling Stones’ Emotional Rescue, Bruce’s Born In The USA, Paul Simon’s Graceland, and Stevie Wonder’s Songs In The Key of Life we are all recorded there.
